ash bell
based writer, producer, and part-time Oompa Loompa. Her plays have been semi-finalists with the O'Neill, Stanley Drama Award, and the Austin Film Festival.
She co-founded the Denver based theatre company, Pipedream Productions, and Project Outbreak, a 6 week Radio Theatre Festival created in isolation during 2020. She was the Audio Tour Creator for the immersive Christmas extravaganza, Camp Christmas at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Her short play, Metal on Metal, was produced at NYU's Short Works Festival and the NYU Global Urban Summit. Her first play, scouts, is part of the 2026 SoHo Playhouse Lighthouse Series, coming back for round 2 in July and her thesis play, DARK ROOM, is a semi-finalist for the O'Neill and the winner of the 2026 Goldberg Award.
Her work includes a ritual slaughter of a man-puppet [scouts], a fucked up Hollywood Greek Tragedy [Rise and Fall and Fall Again of Phaedra], a real photo development session [DARK ROOM], and a play for a kiddie pool [wet girls]. She likes her plays loud and sparkly, deeply tragic (sorry!!), and full of messy women making messy choices.
She is a proud alumnus of the University of Denver [BA in Theatre] and New York University [MFA in Dramatic Writing].
